Speed or Technique – What's More Important for Guitarists?

As guitar players, we can't help but measure certain aspects of our playing every now and then. Don't feel ashamed–it's human nature to strive to be better, but sometimes that quest for greatness can separate us from what's more important, which is having fun. With this mindset, we can tend to sort skills into categories of importance, when in reality everything works in tandem to achieve your voice on your instrument. Speed and technique are two very different skillsets which rely on each other to thrive, so I'll let you know which one matters more, and at what point in your musical journey.
