I wrote a cool chord progression for a solo section in a song I was working on, and when I went to play a solo, I found myself playing a bit too… predictably. So, I challenged myself to create a solo without actually holding a guitar in my hand, using only my instincts of music theory and internal tendencies. The result was actually quite satisfying, and while I probably won’t use this method very often, it was an awesome way to break out of a rut and refresh my composition.
